EastEnders Spoilers: Soaps Kiss Kissing Goodbye

EastEnders spoilers reveal that the UK sudser and others like it will have a price to pay for filming in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, one of the core staples of soaps will have to be eliminated, meaning that while the show must go on, kissing is a thing of the past?

The good news is that soaps can continue, the bad news is without the woo-woo.

The news, for now, is that it appears soap fans can kiss goodbye to onscreen smooches for the time being. Maybe forever?

In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis that has engulfed the world like nothing seen in recent times, kissing is now another casualty.

EastEnders Spoilers – Have Shows Like EastEnders And Emmerdale Forbidden Onscreen Kisses?

For now shows like EastEnders and Emmerdale have forbidden their characters from locking lips, due to the social distancing policy in effect due to the pandemic.

This means there will be no smackers on the lips, a strict policy that is in effect when the shows again begin filming again in June.

But wait, there’s more! Because of social distancing, there can be no hugs either. This seems to be a harsh reality for a genre that loves to display some love in the afternoon and plenty of ribald fun times.

If one reads between the lines it could be that any sexy encounter is off-limits until a vaccine is found or the virus is eliminated.

But maybe that’s just as well. Because the imagination is a powerful tool and exercising it a little bit more will be a healthy way to keep the brain in shape.

EastEnders Spoilers – How Will Soaps Handle A No-Kissing Zone?

EastEnders Albert Square is the site of much passion, so it will be interesting to see how the residents conduct themselves going forward!

But chastity may have been in effect on the soaps prior to the shutdown. According to Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton, who plays vicar Harriet Finch, kissing on set was already banned in the week before lockdown.

EastEnders Spoilers – Was Kissing Already Banned Prior To The Production Shutdown?

The post-coronavirus soap opera landscape will indeed be different than what loyal and dedicated fans have come to expect. One soap insider has said, “This even spells the end of holding hands. We all have to keep the 2m distance.”

But new filming guidelines can’t kill off a genre that has seemingly stood the test of time. For now, Australia soap Neighbours has already resumed filming using creative camera angles to imply intimacy.
