Coronation Street Updates – Shona will forget to do something which could lead to catastrophe

The aftermath of Shona’s tragic gun siege situation continues to haunt her and her loved ones. Her memory took a hard hit and while she is lucky to be alive, she is still struggling to live the life she used to know.

Will Shona ever recover from amnesia?

Memory expert Catherine Maddy from the charity Headway spoke to Express.co.uk about Shona’s storyline and shed some light on what the character is facing.

“Memory is complex, and the memory problems that people experience after brain injury can be extremely wide-ranging and debilitating,” she said. “Problems with short-term memory, also known as active memory – information learned after the injury – is known as anterograde amnesia and can be particularly difficult for the brain injury survivor and their family to cope with.”

Coronation Street spoilers – How will Shona’s amnesia affect her life going forward?

According to Maddy, Shona is prone to certain behaviors such as repeating herself and having to be reminded of simple tasks.

Fans recently saw Shona’s caseworker talk to Roy about what to expect now that he has offered Shona a place to stay and have seen Shona disorientated after returning to Weatherfield. Luckily Roy was there to help her.

Shona is lucky to also have her loved ones eager to help her recover. But Maddy said, “It should be noted that in real life it is highly unlikely that after a severe brain injury someone would recover all of their lost function, and in most cases, you would expect the memory problems to be life-long. “

“The degree a person adjusts to often depends on their ability to accept that life may be different now and new strategies may be needed to cope with the ongoing effects of the brain injury, including memory problems.”

According to explosive show spoilers, Shona’s memory will indeed prove problematic now that she is back on the cobbles. Roy will be the unwitting recipient of one of Shona’s actions and it could prove fatal!
