Emmerdale News: Shila Iqbal Gets Support From Former Castmates After Shock Firing

Emmerdale News: Shila Iqbal Gets Support From Former Castmates After Shock FiringShila Iqbal, who portrayed Aiesha Richards on the ITV soap “Emmerdale,” is thankful for the support she received from her ex-castmates after getting fired from the soap earlier this month.

Producers of “Emmerdale” decided not to renew her contract after some of her controversial tweets from a few years back resurfaced recently and was brought to the ITV’s attention.

In 2013, Iqbal made some social media posts where she used the N-word several times. She was still 19 years old when she made the Twitter posts.

She apologized and said she was “terribly sorry,” took “full responsibility,” and deleted her Twitter account.

In her previous statement, she said, “I am terribly sorry and take full responsibility for my use of such inappropriate language. I have paid the price and can no longer continue the job I loved the most at Emmerdale. Although I was young when I made the tweets, it was still completely wrong of me to do so and I sincerely apologise.”

In the aftermath of her controversial tweet and exit from “Emmerdale,” Iqbal took the time to thank her family, fans, and friends for their support and for defending her. She thanked her agents at InterTalent and her friends at “Emmerdale” as well.

In an interview with “This Morning,” which is hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she was asked to reflect on her past actions. She said she respects ITV’s decision and recognizes their “moral obligation to do what is right by the public.”

However, she also questioned the fairness of it all. She was left wondering whether it was fair to be judged for an act that she did as a teenager.

“And if we do look at the context and the intentions, there was no negative intention behind there. I wasn’t hurling abuse at anyone. I made a mistake definitely and that’s not who I am, she added.”

Although Iqbal feels like her career is uncertain at the moment, she said she will “move on from this.” She wants to raise awareness, especially among the younger generation as to how important it is to be careful of the words used on social media.
