Joe Giudice Publically Calls On Trump For A Pardon

Joe Giudice - All About THR - YouTube

Former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Joe Giudice hopes for a pardon from President Trump, and this is not the first time that he hoped for help from him. In fact, in late January this year, he spoke about trying to get his citizenship status sorted out by the incoming president. Will his appeal now make any difference?

The Deportation of Joe

After his conviction for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and tax-related offences, Joe was sentenced to 41 months in prison in 2014 and began his time behind bars in 2016. He also faced problems because he’d used marriage and birth certificates belonging to his brother to fraudulently obtain a driver’s license in 2010, per NJ.com.

After he was released from Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey, he didn’t get to go home to Teresa Giudice. Instead, he was sent to an immigration detention center. Many fans of the Bravo show presumed he was a citizen, and eventually, he was deported to Italy, his country of birth. From there, he moved to The Bahamas.

Why Can’t Joe Come back?

Although he lived in the United States, Joe Giudice was a permanent resident on a green card because he never applied for naturalization. So, he was not a citizen. A criminal without citizenship can be deported. But he wants to come back because he loves his daughters. In January this year, he hoped that Trump would help him with his immigration status.

Back then, he said:

I got a lawyer working on something, but she’s been working on it. Hasn’t done anything yet. So I don’t know. We’ll see. I did get in front of the embassy and they denied me because I guess I’m a big criminal.

Latest Appeal To Trump

The latest development came on his Instagram this week. After sharing a bunch of photos of his family, he wrote:

I’m Joe Giudice. I served my time, and I’ve been deported from the U.S. for nearly a decade.

I was raised in Jersey, I’m a father of four amazing daughters, and I just want to be allowed to visit them again.

President Trump, I respect you and I’m asking for a second chance. @realdonaldtrump @donaldjtrumpjr

In the comments section, his fans felt that he should get a pardon. After all, Julie and Todd Chrisley got one. Others felt that there was no harm in trying. But as others pointed out, the Chrisleys were citizens, and Joe never was.

Responses In The Comments

Others in the comments talked about citizenship. One of Joe’s biggest problems is the fact that if Trump granted him a pardon, it might set a precedent. Then, many of the immigrants who were deported for crimes will also all want to come back.

Here are a few other responses:

  • lol he’s an illegal felon. He [Trump] said he was running on this and now you want to ask for him to break his rules for him bc he’s a d list celebrity?! The irony.
  • None of joes daughters are doing even 1/10th of what Savannah has done since her parents were charged.
  • Except that Trump whole rhetoric is deporting criminals who were also illegal. Joe fits the bill.

A presidential pardon can waive deportability for certain crimes, but it doesn’t automatically grant citizenship.
