Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” To Enter Production Despite Controversies Surrounding Shoot

I guess the team of people working on “Rust” have learnt their lesson, and what a harsh lesson it is indeed. “Rust” will be re-entering production, but there will be new and improved safety measures in place.

This is coming after it was announced that the family of “Rust’s” dead cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, will be coming after Baldwin.

Rust Movie Productions Reshuffles Talents On “Rust” But Keeps Injured Director Joel Souza

Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” is officially set to resume production this coming Spring, over a year after the onset accident that saw cinematographer Hutchins shot dead and director Joel Souza injured.

On Tuesday, Rust Movie Productions revealed that most of the people who worked on the first production have been let go, but that director Joel Souza is one of the very few talents retained. The press release also named Hutchins’ widower Matthew as one of the latest executive producers on the show, alongside Academy Award-nominated producer Grant Hill (The Thin Red Line).

Baldwin, 64, will also be returning, but for safety reasons, locations for the filming will not be disclosed.

The press release further said that Bianca Cline (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) will be taking Hutchins’ job as the new cinematographer and has promised to donate her salary to a charity in her name.

The press release added that production “will continue to utilize union crew members and will bar any use of working weapons and any form of ammunition. Live ammunition is — and always was — prohibited on set.”

Director Joel Souza On The “Bittersweet” Nature Of Resuming The Filming Of “Rust”

On Tuesday, Director Souza shared his joy to see work continue on what he “and Hutchins started”.

“Though bittersweet, I am grateful that a brilliant and dedicated new production team joining former cast and crew are committed to completing what Halyna and I started,” said Souza. “My every effort on this film will be devoted to honoring Halyna’s legacy and making her proud. It is a privilege to see this through on her behalf.”

At the moment, Alec Baldwin is facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Halyna Hutchins, who died from gunshot wound at the age of 42.
