Matthew McConaughey Shakes Up Tyler Sheridan’s Yellowstone

Yellowstone spoilers and updates tease that season 5, episode 9 is months’ away from airing and reportedly the Dutton family, the owners of the largest ranch in Montana, have a lot in store for them during the second part of season 5.

Yellowstone Spoilers – From One Academy Award Winner To Another

Deadline reports that Paramount is hoping to have Matthew McConaughey fill in Kevin Costner’s boots as the protagonist of the Taylor Sheridan series. Cast members to be included with McConaughey are Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton) and Gil Birmingham (Chief Thomas Rainwater). Fans will recall that Costner won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of John Dutton and has really become a staple of the fan favorite western. Sadly, Kostner’s schedule seems to be the problem, the 68-year-old locked heads with Yellowstone creator, Sheridan over it.

There is no confirmation from Paramount or Tyler Sheridan, but it is rumoured that rather than fill John Dutton’s shoes, Matthew McConaughey will be the new protagonist of a Yellowstone spin-off. It really is no surprise that Yellowstone would be looking towards McConaughey, many A-Listers are turning to these type of TV programs; 1923 has Harrison Ford, Tulsa King has Sylvester Stallone, and fans love to see them transform from the movie screen to the TV screen.

Yellowstone Updates – What Will Happen To The Dutton Family?

Piper Perabo (Summer Higgins) told TV Insider that she doesn’t know what will happen in the second half of season 5, but there is a lot coming, things are on the move. What we do know is that Jamie has aligned himself with a dangerous woman, Sarah Atwood, who wants to use Jamie to take down the Dutton Empire.

If McConaughey does join Yellowstone it will really be interesting to see if he is team Jamie, or team Beth. Although, it is not like Beth needs anyone on her side, she can certainly handle her half-brother all by herself. Beth is not afraid to take Jamie down physically, and she has his deep dark little secret over his head, that he killed his biological father.

The McConaughey rumour has not yet been confirmed by Paramount Network “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

If McConaughey does join Yellowstone, this will not be his first western, he also appeared in the 1996 American neo-western, Lone Star.
