Angelina Jolie Dishes About Her Upcoming Film, Those Who Wish Me Dead

The past year has seen Angelina Jolie keep a low profile away from the Hollywood scene, primarily because of the global coronavirus pandemic. This year will see the Hollywood actress make a return to the big screen as she takes on the role of a smokejumper in a soon-to-be-released film titled Those Who Wish Me Dead, that is directed by Taylor Sheridan.

In a recent interview with an online publication, Jolie talks about how difficult it was to pull off scenes in the movie that involved her young co-star, Finn Little.

The film Those Who Wish Me Dead revolves around the smoke jumper Hannah, in her quest to protect Connor, a character played by Finn, from assassins that are pursuing him amid a forest wildfire. The film trailer was released some days ago and shows Jolie going through the film’s action-packed scenes in her typical professional and tactical fashion without hesitation. But there is one thing that she found quite difficult to do while on set.

In her interview, Jolie revealed that it was hard for her to act out the personality of the smokejumper character, Hannah, because of her maternal instincts. In the film, Hannah is depicted as a professional smoke jumper without any idea of how to take care of a child, as she is rough and does not tolerate any shortcomings.

In a joking manner, Jolie said that writer-director Sheridan had to correct her on numerous occasions on her portrayal of the Hannah character, adding that it took her a long time to actually treat her young cast member roughly during filming.

For a while, Jolie went into film directing but has had to shelve her career as a director because of the legal proceedings she has been having with her former boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt, over custody rights to their children. She revealed that her little time as a director helped her in some ways during the shooting of Those Who Wish Me Dead. She said it made more aware of the challenges a film director faces during the filming of scenes, as they have to take the scenes from different angles, get the actors to act out what they desire, and the number of set pieces that get moved during filming.

Angelina Jolie News – Huge Respect For Firefighters

Jolie revealed that she has now found a new respect for people who go into the firefighting profession. According to her, the risk they go through in the course of preserving lives is something that should not be taken for granted.

The film Those Who Wish Me Dead is based on the 2014 novel of the same name, written by Michael Koryla. It sees Jolie starring alongside other notable Hollywood stars like Tyler Perry, Nicholas Hoult, Jon Bernthal, and Aiden Gillen. It will be released simultaneously to cinemas and HBO Max on the 14th of May, 2021.
