Source Close To Angelina Jolie Says Actress Wants To Focus On Local Organizations

The “Eternals” actress has worked with local organizations in the past to bring aid to distressed refugees and wants to continue doing work on that front.

Founded in 2003, Jolie has continued to work closely with the MJP Foundation in Cambodia. A source close to the actress tells PEOPLE that Jolie “decided to leave UNHCR so she can devote more of her efforts to supporting groups led by those most directly affected by conflict, to help empower them and lift their voices and leadership.”

“She will be more effective as an outsider,” the source added. “She always has been like that, and more with the people than the system.”

Wherever the wind finds Jolie in the future, it’ll be working to help shed light on the grim situations that often face displaced people.
