Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean And Wife Rochelle Officially Divorce Following Year Of Separation

It’s been almost a year since AJ McLean separated from his wife Rochelle. As we ring in the New Year, they’ve finally decided to end things for good this time.

They’re reportedly looking forward to moving on with friendship and understanding, so as to be the best co-parents they can be for their young daughters.

On New Year’s Day, the Backstreet Boys’ singer, 51, took to Instagram to share one notable way he’ll be moving on in 2024.

“As you all know we have been separated for over a year now,” the statement, which was accompanied by a crying emoji, read. “While we have hoped for reconciliation we have decided to officially end our marriage. It is with deep love and respect that we have made this decision.”

The message, which was approved by both McLean and Rochelle, 42, continued: “Our focus now is moving forward in the healthiest possible way with friendship and co-parenting our girls at the forefront of this next chapter. We appreciate your kindness respect and privacy at this time.”

The couple have been together since they started dating in 2009, going on to subsequently get engaged ten months later.

In December 2011, they tied the knot in a gothic-themed wedding ceremony taking place in Beverly Hills. At the time of their meeting, Rochelle was a waitress at a restaurant.

However, in March 2023, the pair announced their separation, calling for kindness from the press and fans as they navigate through the hard times.

“Marriage is hard, but worth it,” they said. “We have mutually decided to separate temporarily to work on ourselves, and on our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future. The plan is to come back together and continue to nurture our love for one another and our family. We ask for respect and privacy at this time. Separation is hard enough without the commentary, please be kind and remember there are children involved.”
