Ben Affleck Admits That He Was Miserable And Drinking Heavily While Filming Justice League

Ben Affleck is finally getting honest about his past. The Hollywood actor admits that he was not in a good place, both personally and professionally, while he was filming Justice League back in 2016. In fact, Ben admits that he was drinking the most during that time before he sought help. Here’s what you need to know.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, Ben admitted that the superhero film was a difficult one for him to make, just because of everything that was going on for him in his personal life. He also said that the movie left a “monstrous taste” in his mouth for him and was also one of the reasons why he decided not to direct his Batman film.

Ben put it this way, “[‘Justice League’] made me go, ‘I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited.’ That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some s—ty experiences. It broke my heart.”

The film was mostly marred because of all the rewrites and reshoots and also because director Zack Snyder had to leave the project after the death of his daughter. That, and there was some difficulty working with Joss Whedon, too.

Ben continued, “There was an idea of someone [Whedon] coming in, like, ‘I’ll rescue you and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll write a whole thing around what you have. I’ve got the secret.’ And it wasn’t the secret. That was hard. And I started to drink too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, ‘This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.’”
