Keanu Reeves Admits He’s Happy To Become the Internet’s Boyfriend

During this week’s premiere of “John Wick: Chapter 4,” Keanu Reeves revealed that he hopes fans still “enjoy what I do.” He also reacted to going viral as the “internet’s boyfriend.” Someone wrap Keanu Reeves up, I’ll take two.

Keanu Reeves – Appreciates The Goodwill Behind Fans’ Support Online

Chatting exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of his latest movie “John Wick: Chapter 4” on Wednesday evening, the 58-year-old star revealed that he really treasures the love that he receives online.

“I really appreciate the goodwill,” Reeves – who is currently in a relationship with artist Alexandra Grant – replied when he was asked how he views the internet’s obsession with his personal life.

He also added that he’s okay with all the intrusion that comes with fame and being the hitman that fans have come to recognize in “John Wick.”

“I love the challenges of John Wick, it’s super intense,” he explained. “It’s playful. I get to do different things — driving, you know? [I get to use] nunchucks and do movie Judo, movie jujitsu. So I really enjoy that.”

Even though Reeves is the king of relatable stars, as he’s often photographed doing mundane things like eating sandwich on a bench and grocery shopping like the rest of us, he actually enjoys the intensity of his upcoming movie.

“I enjoy the challenges and the intensity and the noise,” he said. “So I’m not looking to hang out on the beach.”

But it’s not always easy getting into shape to become the legendary character, as he trained for months. “John Wick: Chapter 4 was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far,” he told Total Film in a January interview. “They really trained me up to be able to have what we call the toolbox.”

One of the things that Wick upped to make this chapter more thrilling for fans was his driving skills, including an action-packed chase set in Paris.

“We took the car-driving to the next level, which I really enjoy. There’s 180s, forward-into-reverse 180s, reverse-into-forward 270s, drifting. … So it was really fun to get a chance to learn those skills, and to play,” he explained.

“I haven’t been looking for a milieu,” he told PEOPLE, referring to the intensity of his recent movies. “I’m just hoping that people enjoy what I do.”
