For a while now, several women have been vocal about how they’ve been victims of the alarming face-punching trend going on in the city of New York.
The case is gradually becoming a norm for women to get punched in the face by random strangers. On Wednesday, the star of “Real Housewives of New York City” Bethenny Frankel revealed she was also a victim.
Bethenny’s revelation came after a Parsons fashion design student shared on TikTok her painful experience on how she got punched in the face on her way home from class.
Taking to the comments section of the post, Bethenny admitted she has been through the same situation.
“This is insane bc this happened to me a few months ago but I was embarrassed to say. I was on the UWS [Upper West Side]. Insane. I was taking video of a bakery,” said Bethenny.
Seeing how much reaction her comment garnered on the person’s post, the Bravolebrity decided to make a separate video to explain further how she too, became a victim.
Bethenny Frankel — On Bethenny’s Experience
According to the 53-year-old TV personality, she was hunting for a new apartment in New York City when she saw a mini bakery and went in to have a look and take some photos but just when she wanted to walk out of the shop, she got punched in the face.
She said in her TikTok video, “I was in New York City looking for an apartment and I stopped at this cute little deli-bakery tiny place. I walked in and I was shooting the baked goods and as I turned around — I mean, the place was the size of a bathroom — I turned around to walk out the door, and this guy punched me. Hit me is more [accurate], it wasn’t like a closed-fist, just hit me in the face.”
The philanthropist continued, “I was completely stunned. I walked outside and my driver, who is also security, I looked at him and gestured over to this man, this homeless man, to explain to him that I’d just been hit. But I didn’t want to provoke this guy even more. [My driver] went over and started confronting the guy and I was like, ‘Let’s get the hell out of here.’”
After that weird ordeal, Bethenny recalled calling her broker to forget about every apartment in New York City, “And at that point, I texted the broker and said, I don’t want to see apartments anymore this city’s insane,” said Bethenny. S
he went on to say, “I attributed this to the crime that was happening during the pandemic. Little did I know that this would become this trend of people being hit and even when I commented in that post, I didn’t know that it had been multiple people.”
Bethenny used that medium to apologize to all the women who were victims, “So it’s a crazy crime spree and I don’t understand it.
And I’m sorry for all the other women that it’s happening to. It’s to be cold-cocked, like in the street. It was wild. And I hope it’s more of like a weird trend than an actual reflection of crime because it did scare me about New York City.”
The mom of one also shared how after her experience she warned her 13-year-old daughter to be careful, “That day did freak me out and I did, I did tell my daughter about it because it scares me that she’s in the city sometimes walking in the streets.”
