Billie Eilish Talks New Album “Happier Than Ever”

Billie Eilish Ahead of her second studio album, Billie Eilish graces the cover of one of music’s most successful and respected magazines, to not only reveal the story behind the album, but the story behind the girl who made the album. The teenager’s rise to fame can definitely be equated to a rocket’s phenomenal speed, but in the interview, she reminded her fans that she’s a woman and a singer and she’s got a personality.

In the interview, Billie talked about why she loves keeping things a secret and why she spends most of her time at her childhood home, even after moving out. Like a true teenager, she also talked about the movies she watched “like four times” during the lockdown, but like a massive popstar, she shared the inspiration behind her upcoming July 30th album and its songs.

Billie Eilish Reflects On The Impact Of Fame On Her Life

Remember when Billie Eilish was 14 and she’d just performed a song that her brother had written for her choreographer, who wanted a song to do a routine for? Well, that song, called “Ocean Eyes”, was uploaded on SoundCloud and the response from people was massive. A short while later, Billie had a ton of record deal offers to choose from, and now, she’s found her place as Gen-Z’s leading popstar.

But to be honest, while most musicians around the world would quickly switch their situation to that of of Billie’s, the 19-year-old admitted feeling ungrateful for the fame she achieved within a short time.

“I was a kid and I wanted to do kid shit. I didn’t want to be not able to fucking go to a store or the mall. I was very angry and not grateful about it.”

The singer/songwriter also explained why she feels like she’s failing her fans the way her favorite stars failed her when she was growing up. For preteen Billie, Justin Bieber and all her other idols weren’t fulfilling her expectations, and now that she’s found herself in the same place, she can understand why.

“It’s sad because I can’t give the fans everything they want,” she said. “The bigger I’ve gotten, the more I understand why [my favorite celebrities] couldn’t do all the things I wanted them to do.”

“It wouldn’t make sense to people who aren’t in this world. If I said what I was thinking right now, [the fans] would feel the same way I did when I was 11,” she added. “They’d be like, ‘It would be so easy. You could just do it.’ No. It’s crazy the amount of things you don’t think about before it’s right in front of you.”

Billie wishes she could be more open with her fans, but is held back by the translation of the meaning of her words, and the fear that her words may come back someday to haunt her.

“I wish that I could tell the fans everything I think and feel and it wouldn’t live on the internet forever. And be spoken about and called problematic, or called whatever the fuck anybody wants to call any thoughts that a human has,” she explained. “The other sad thing is that they don’t actually know me. And I don’t really know them, but obviously we’re connected. The problem is you feel like you know somebody, but you don’t. And then it’s like, yeah. It’s just a lot.”

Billie Eilish On The Meaning Behind Her Album Title

As fans count down the days for “Happier That Ever’s” release, they can keep busy with the 27-minute Prime Day Show special featuring Billie Eilish.

“My mom was saying this yesterday,” Eilish remembers. “When you’re happier than ever, that doesn’t mean you’re the happiest that anyone’s ever been. It means you’re happier than you were before.”

After going through her adolescence years plagued with depression, body dysmorphia, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, Eilish began feeling better in the summer of 2019 during the European leg of her “When We All Fall Asleep” tour.

After the release of her album, she broke up with her boyfriend and started seeing a therapist, but even though she went on tour with one of her best friends (as well as her brother and parents), the teenager opened up, saying, “I was thriving.”

Billie Eilish will perform at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in September.  Keep checking Celebrating The Soaps for more celeb news and Billie Eilish updates.
