Brad Pitt Releases More Champagne After Angelina Jolie Jumps Ship

Brad PittThe Rosé Champagne is actor Brad Pitt’s second Fleur de Miraval release.  A couple of years ago, Brad Pitt and then-wife Angelina Jolie got into the booze business – like every other notable star. And while Angelina Jolie has sold her stake in the wine business just last month – because, apparently, working together now is a bit confusing, Brad Pitt is continuing to make the brand bigger and better.

With his second wine, he’s reportedly going for something that will taste new to customers and not like anything already out there.

Brad Pitt’s Chateau Miraval Launches Second Wine

The “Troy” actor will be releasing his second bottling of Champagne Fleur de Miraval this week.

The new bottle, named ER2 (Exclusively Rosé 2), is a new and different take on Pitt’s 2020 Fleur de Miraval release. While it’s said that the new version will be notably different from the last one, it’s still made by the same painstaking Saignée cellar. ER2 was bottled in 2017 and stored in cellars for the last four years.

“I was impressed last year with the success of our first edition, Fleur de Miraval ER1,” Pitt told PEOPLE.

“Each edition of Fleur de Miraval is a constant quest for beauty, a desire to create space for all possibilities,” Brad Pitt shared with PEOPLE about his latest rosé champagne ER2.

Fleur’s signature color is a daring copperish-hue, a shade obtained by its infusion method of creation.  On release date, its 22,000 bottles will be offered at a price of approximately $400 a bottle.  “With ER2, we pushed the limits even further,” he said. “We created new extremes for quality.”  The wine was developed in secrecy for five years before it was officially announced.

Brad Pitt Pushes Boundaries with ER2

The latest edition of Fleur is a blend of 75% chardonnay grapes (of various ages including the 2012 vintage) and 25% young Pinot Noirs obtained from fields in the neighboring village of Vertus.

Combining the Provence rosé making skills of the Perrin family (Pitt’s original partners in Miraval Cotes de Provence Rosé since 2012) and the knowledge of champagne family Rudolphe Peters, ER2 is a unique wine with a creamy texture, considerably more ‘grip’ (a crispness) than the previous version.

The Saignée is a long and painstaking method of making a bolder wine by “bleeding” away a portion of pressed grape juice from mash.

Champagne-maker Pierre Peters confirmed that Brad is out for a wine that will be different than all of the rest.

“Brad wanted to launch a champagne—but not a copycat type,” he told PEOPLE.

Three weeks ago, Pitt’s ex actress Angelina Jolie sold her share of Chateau Miraval to beverage giant Tenute del Mondo.

Effects of Jolie trading off her involvement in Chateau Miraval on the winemaking business is yet to be seen. As of now, plans are in place to expand production in 2022.
