Brian Cox Says Succession Son Jeremy Strong’s Method Acting Is “F—ing Annoying”

Brian Cox got some things off his chest. It may seem as though Cox has a personal issue with his Tv son’s Method acting as he always has something or a bit of advice to give concerning it.

Cox and Jeremy Strong starred alongside each other in the HBO’s Hit series “Succession.” While Cox played to role of Logan Roy the ruthless founder of Waystar Royco, Strong played the role of Kendall Roy, Logan’s son who doesn’t meet eye to eye with his father.

In a recent interview with “Town & Country” the “Troy” actor shared his feelings towards Strong’s Method acting. Cox said, “Oh, it’s f—ing annoying,” and added, “Don’t get me going on it.”

Even though Cox disagrees with Strong’s Method acting, he admitted that the rest of the “Succession” co-stars like Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Nicholas Braun, and Matthew MacFadyen don’t seem to mind.

Although Cox thinks “Knowing a character and what the character does is only part of the skill set.” Cox went on to acknowledge the fact that Strong is excellent at what he does, before adding, “He feels if he went somewhere else he’d lose it, but he won’t! Strong is talented. He’s f—ing gifted. When you’ve got the gift, celebrate the gift. Go back to your trailer and have a hit of marijuana, you know?”

Thing is, this isn’t the first time the 76-year-old actor is sharing his two pence on Strong’s acting style. In 2021, Cox shared during his visit at the “Late Night With Seth Meyers” his concern for his TV son. “I worry about what it does to him, because you’re dealing with all of this material every day. You can’t live in it. Eventually, you get worn out.”

Cox also made his worry known during Strong’s controversial “New Yorker Profile” he said, “It’s the cost to himself that worries me.”

Brian Cox — Strong Won’t Be Changing Anytime Soon

It was a great deal of coincidence when Cox’s interview was posted the same day Strong’s latest GQ profile was posted and Strong had some words of his own to dish out to his Onscreen dad.

“Everyone’s entitled to have their feelings. Brian Cox, for example, he’s earned the right to say whatever the f— he wants. There was no need to address that or do damage control… I feel a lot of love for my siblings and my father on the show. And it is like a family in the sense that, and I’m sure they would say this, too, you don’t always like the people that you love. I do always respect them,” said Strong to the outlet.

He went on to add, “I’m still going to do whatever it takes to serve whatever it is, which is not to say that that is the same thing as riding roughshod over other people. It has to do with autonomous concentration. It’s a very solitary thing. I think there’s very low impact on others except for what they might want to project onto it and how that might make them feel.”
