Elle King learned first hand that there’s just some things you don’t do in the country music industry, like get drunk at the Grand Ole Opry and botch a Dolly Parton classic.

Elle King took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry in January of this year, she was invited to perform a tribute to Dolly and sing one of her songs on her 78th birthday.

Country music fans filled the venue and gathered around their televisions to watch the highly anticipated performance, but Elle had a bit of a mishap and created quite a scandal.

Drunk Elle King Took The Grand Ole Opry Stage

King got up on stage and was noticeably intoxicated, to the point that she was stumbling and slurring her words. 

The country singer appalled the older crowd at the Grand Ole Opry when she dropped about 15 F-Bombs on stage in a matter of minutes and then announced she was drunk. 

Afterwards Elle attempted to sing Dolly’s song “Marry Me” and completely botched it and forgot the lyrics, all while Dolly was sitting in the audience.  Yikes!

After Elle King’s wild night on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, she was blasted by the media and and received horrible reviews all over social media. 

The Backlash was so terrible that Elle cancelled a slew of upcoming concerts and performances, and even Dolly Parton had to beg her fans to cut King some slack and issued an official statement on the matter and stated that Elle is “going through a lot right now.”

Elle King – Finally Speaks Out

King took to Instagram this week and finally addressed the drunk Dolly Parton scandal and announced that she had rescheduled her shows and would be offering refunds to those who purchased tickets to the original dates and wouldn’t be able to attend.

Elle seems to be ready to put the drama behind her and shared a video of herself working out in an empty stadium. 

King wrote, “To everyone sending me love because I’m human and already talked to Dolly I love you.  To everyone who told me to k*ll myself I love you too.”
