Celine Dion Wishes Fans Health Amidst Battle With Stiff Person Syndrome

It wasn’t a happy time for Celine Dion’s fans when they learned that the singer was suffering from a very rare and chronic disease. Thousands wished her well and prayed that she would gracefully overcome the condition. Now, she’s returning the favor by wishing fans health as they celebrate the holidays.

Earlier this month, Celine Dion explained why she was forced to push her world tour further back. For much of 2022, the legendary songstress has been pretty low-key, keeping out of the public eye.

It was only towards the end of the year that she revealed that she was battling with Stiff Person Syndrome, a condition that could well leave her paralyzed if not treated appropriately.

After she announced the reason she’s postponing and canceling her shows, she hasn’t made any public posts. But on Saturday, December 24, the “It’s All Coming Back To Me” singer dressed up to wish fans a healthy Christmas.

In the video, the bilingual singer wished fans well in two different languages: English and French.

“Wishing you love, happiness, [and] the best of health,” she said in the video, where she rocked a white and lavender jacket in front of a decorated Christmas tree.

She captioned the Instagram clip, “Happy Holidays to all, Joyeuses fêtes à tous – Céline xx…”

In the past, Celine Dion has performed Christmas songs, both original and classic ones, including “This Is Christmas”, so it feels on brand for her to wish her 5.4 million Instagram followers “love and happiness” as they celebrate the season.

Celine Dion – On Battling With Stiff Person Syndrome

If you haven’t ever heard of a condition called the Stiff Person Syndrome, or SPS, it’s probably because it’s an extremely rare condition.

In the video message, Dion said: “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having. Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to.”

She went on to describe the disease as an autoimmune disease that tends to attack the nervous and autoimmune systems and could eventually leave one unable to move.

However, the resilient singer will be hitting the stage as soon as she reasonably can to perform for her fans. I knew there was a reason I loved Celine Dion so.
