Chris Rock Having The Last Laugh?

Chris RockChris Rock is resilient if anything.  That saying of he who laughs last, laughs best is probably meant for Chris Rock because it seems at this point, he’s the one having the last laugh.

Remember Rock’s encounter with Smith? I’m sure you do, such an eye-popping show isn’t the type to forget in a jiffy. Well, though Rock hasn’t said anything tangible regarding the incident, he told fans in London that he would “talk about” the incident “at some point … on Netflix.”

However, on Thursday, May 12, at London’s Royal Albert Hall, according to the U.K. outlet The Telegraph, the 57-year-old comedian briefly joked about the highly publicized incident that took place at the 2022 Annual Academy Award, in March.

“I’m okay, if anybody was wondering,” Rock said, according to U.K. outlet The Telegraph. “Got most of my hearing back.”

“Don’t expect me to talk about the bulls—,” he also said, The Telegraph reports. “I’ll talk about it at some point … on Netflix.”

“Your tickets were expensive, but not that expensive,” Rock reportedly joked.

What Was The Incident About?

Just in case, by any means you didn’t get to hear of the Chris Rock/Will Smith saga, even though it’s basically what almost everyone has been saying ever since the occurrence, not to worry, I got you covered.

It all started at the 2022 Academy Award that took place in Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, on Sunday, March 27.

Will Smith struck Rock because Rock made a joke saying “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?”

Rock made that joke in reference to Jada’s hair matching Demi Moore’s shaved head in the movie G.I. Jane. Apparently, Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith didn’t find the joke funny as she has a condition that causes her to lose her hair,  but, out of the blues, Will rose from his seat, walked up to Rock, slapped him, and returned to his seat whilst yelling “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth!”

Although Smith has since apologized to Rock publicly on his Instagram, it seems his action was too big for the magic words of “I’m sorry” to make disappear. Smith also resigned from the Academy, afterwards, the Academy banned  Smith from attending its events for the next 10 years.

Chris Rock News — What Rock’s Mom Said About The Slap

On April 22, Chris Rock’s mother Rose Rock, visited South Carolina station WIS-TV’s Soda City Live and conveyed her thoughts on Will Smith’s Oscars slap saying, “When Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us, but he really slapped me,” she said. “Because when you hurt my child, you hurt me.”

Rose Rock, 77 pointed out that she had “never met” Will before the incident and initially believed that it was a staged event “until he started with the obscenities.”

Rose also shared her heartbreak about not being able to physically be there for her son after the incident. “I was not at the Oscars this time,” she said. “I couldn’t reach out to him at that point, there was nothing to do and that’s a hard thing for a mother. No matter how old they are, they’re still your babies.”

While reflecting on the altercation, Rose said that she had “no idea” what she would say to Will Smith if given the chance except: “What in the world were you thinking?”

“You did a slap, but so many things could’ve happened from that,” she explained. “Chris could’ve stepped back and fallen. You really could’ve been taken out in handcuffs. You didn’t think. You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye and you went up and made her day because she was bowled over laughing when it happened.”

While the event didn’t go the way Chris Rock or his family had imagined, Rose maintained that she was “really, really proud” of the way Chris carried himself onstage after the incident.

However, she noted that she also felt “really sad,” because “Chris was so happy to be giving the award to Questlove for his Oscar and no one heard his speech. No one was able to just be in the moment, because everybody was just sitting there like, ‘What just happened?'”

Yes, I do. Jada Pinkett-Smith rocks that bald head, knows she does or she wouldn't prance around with it. Personally, I'd be embarrassed and would wear hats or a wig. She's got enough wealth for either of both. So, no, she didn't need and ought not to have encouraged Smith's behavior. I wouldn't have either of them at my table nor will I be contributing to their wealth in the future. Good manners aren't in their daily behavior — or so it would seem.
