Wednesday spoilers and updates tease that Christina Ricci has joined that cast of the upcoming Netflix series titled, Wednesday. The new live-action show of the Addams Family series is directed by Tim Burton.
Christina Ricci – Will Ricci Play An Older Version Of Wednesday?
Ricci will play a major role in the new series. The actress isn’t new to the story. Addams Family fans may recall that she previously starred as Wednesday in the 1990s version of the Addams Family, which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
The details about Ricci’s role in the new series is being kept under wraps. In a report by Deadline, it was revealed that Ricci’s addition to the cast followed Thora Birch’s exit from the show. Ricci may play a role that’s similar to the one portrayed by Birch, which would probably serve as its replacement.
Christina Ricci – Wednesday’s Cast And Crew
The series follows the story of Wednesday Addams while in Nevermore Academy. The coming of age comedy series is penned by Al Gough and Miles Millar, who are known for their impressive work in Smallville.
The title character will be portrayed by Jenna Ortega in the Netflix series. Ortega’s other acting credits include You, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Yes Day.
Other cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones who will play the matriarch, Morticia Adams while Luis Guzmán takes on the role of Gomez Addams. They’re also joined by Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emma Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday, and Percy Hynes White.
The show’s executive producers are Kayla Alpert, Steve Stark, as well as Andrew Mittman for 1.21, Kevin Miserocchi, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania and Gail Berman.

Netflix’s Wednesday is based on the characters created by Charles Addams, namely, Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandma, butler Lurch, and Cousin Itt. These infamous characters were first introduced in a New Yorker comic strip back in the 1930s. It rose to fame and had several onscreen adaptations from sitcoms, animated series, to films.

The eight-episode series will be directed by Tim Burton, who’s known for his work on Corpse Bride and Beetlejuice.
The upcoming comedy is described as “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” chronicles high school student Wednesday as she strives to perfect her emerging psychic ability while she juggles the complexities of relationships within Nevermore Academy.
