Rebel Wilson Channels Teenage Dreams In Netflix Senior Year

Rebel Wilson Netflix’s “Senior Year” will see a 37-year-old “once upon a time” cheerleader try to live her teenage dreams.

The 41-year-old actress will play a cheerleader who wakes up from a 20-year-old coma thinking that it’s still 2002.

After a severe accident which sees Wilson’s character falling off a pyramid, the then 17-year-old goes into a coma for many years, leaving the rest of her teenage years to slip away from her.

Undeterred, after waking up from the coma, she returns to highschool, with plans “to regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.”

On Instagram, Wilson, who also gets producer credit on the movie, shared a glimpse into her on-screen character by rocking a cheerleader costume. She captioned the post, “Got my butterfly clips and glitter, and I’m ready to head back to 2002! #SeniorYear premieres May 13 on @netflix.”

Directed by Alex Hardcastle, the film also stars Alicia Silverstone, Justin Hartley, Angourie Rice, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Mary Holland and Chris Parnell.

In a prior press release, Wilson teased, “Senior Year is like the wildly funny love child of Bring It On and Never Been Kissed. It will literally bring ‘cheer’ into your homes! I can’t wait for everyone to see Senior Year on Netflix this May 13.”

Rebel Wilson – Stephanie Conway Arriving In Style

Wilson has shared multiple behind-the-scenes glimpses into her on-screen character with her fans on Instagram. One of those was her character’s prom look, which she shared in June, captioning: “Stephanie Conway arriving in style #SeniorYear arriving 2022! Can’t wait for you guys to see this movie next year. @salvadorperezcostumes crushing it on the costumes for this huge Prom sequence, @cherylrmarks on the glamorous hair and @melhweaver on the beautiful make-up.”

In July, she shared more cheerleader pics in order to get fans excited for the upcoming Netflix comedy drama. “I really do get to live out my BRING IT ON dreams in this movie!”

In a July 1 Instagram upload, Wilson shared a snap of herself and co-star Rice in matching pink, early-2000s attire as they celebrated completing work on “Senior Year”. “Happy Wrap @angourierice 💕 I love being your “senior”. Ps if you haven’t seen Angourie in Mare of Easttown check her out on HBO #SeniorYear 🇦🇺 👑.”

“Senior Year” will be available to stream on Netflix on May 13.
