Dennis Quaid has played more than a number of interesting movie and television roles over his career, but his latest might be the most infamous character he’s done as of late.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Quaid is set to star in the new drama series Happy Face, about real-life serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson from the early 1990s. The show will be streamed on Paramount+.
More On The True Story Of “Happy Face”
Jesperson was named “Happy Face” as he drew smiley faces on evidence to place a spotlight on his crimes.
The show was created by the husband-and-wife team, executive producers Michelle and Robert King, who’ve also been behind shows like The Good Fight and Evil.
Happy Face comes from the true story of Melissa Moore, Jesperson’s daughter, whose life was profiled in the book “Shattered Silence”, her autobiography written with M. Bridget Cook.
The show also includes information from Moore’s true-crime podcast, Happy Face, from iHeartPodcasts. Actress, singer, dancer, and Broadway star Annaleigh Ashford will play Jesperson’s daughter, Moore.
Keith Hunter Jesperson claimed to have killed approximately 160 individuals in the ‘90s; however, only eight have been confirmed. He is currently serving a sentence at the Oregon State Penitentiary, of life without parole.
