Dolly’s impromptu acapella version of the song her mom sang to her, Bury Me Beneath The Willow, was just like the singer herself: completely genuine and beautiful. And it led Colbert to openly weep.

Dolly lightly teased Colbert about his display of emotion and he responded, “Like many Americans, I am under a lot of stress.”

She has 25 RIAA-certified gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards, and 26 songs reached #1 on the Billboard country charts–a record for a female artist. Add to that 44 career Top 10 country albums (a record for any artist), and 110 career-charted singles over the past four decades. Parton recently reached #1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay Chart for the first time with a duet with Grammy award-winning Zach Williams. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

Parton is a philanthropical force as well, having donated over 143 million books to children around the world via her Imagination Library and her children’s book, Coat of Many Colors, was dedicated to the Library of Congress to honor the Imagination Library’s 100 millionth book donation.
