Dolly Parton Shares Heartbreaking Reason She Didn’t Have Children

Dolly Parton may have come from a big home, but she and husband Carl Dean don’t have little ones of their own. Not by any fault of hers since she once revealed she wasn’t able to conceive due to suffering from endometriosis; a painful condition that sometimes leads to infertility.

But of course, there’s the road of adoption, which is what any fan of Parton would expect from her since she adores children.

The thing is Parton decided that the children of the world deserve her love equally, and boy is she making moves to show them just how much she loves them. Bless her beautiful heart.

Dolly Parton Announces Her Desire To Release Songs For Children

If you’ve ever heard of a person living life to the fullest, you’re probably thinking of Dolly Parton: the country legend who penned her first book with bestselling author James Patterson, acted in movies, shared her own brand of ice cream with Jeni’s, made a rock record, and now wants to make a record for children. She’s never going to slow down and that makes her even more admirable.

Dolly Parton Shares Heartwarming Reason She Didn't Have Children

She recently revealed her plans to work on children’s music during her interview with the Today show’s host Matt Lauer. The album, “I Believe on You,” will sort of complement her work with her charity Imagination Library, which has provided nearly 100 million free books to young children.

During the interview, Parton said fate kept her from having her own children so that she could be a mother to everyone’s children. “God has a plan for everything,” she said. “I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine. And they are now.”

At first, Parton used to regret not having children and wonder whether her life could have been greatly improved if she had a child to call her own, but not these days. “Now that Carl and I are older, we often say, “Aren’t you glad we didn’t have kids? Now we don’t have kids to worry about,” she previously told Billboard.

Dolly Parton Opens Up About the Reasons Kids Are Drawn To Her

It’s not a wonder that kids adore Parton, and if you’re wondering why, the “Jolene” singer has some reasons for that: “I have that high-pitched voice… I look like Mother Goose or one of those over-exaggerated characters, and kids just relate to that.”

This was kind of explored in Parton’s music video with Linda Perry for “What’s Up?” In the video, children discover the room where she and Perry are playing their song and start piling in. Soon she and Perry are surrounded by dozens of children.

As for why this is the right time for Parton, 71, to do this, she revealed that she’s in her “second” childhood. All the proceeds from the children’s album will go to Imagination Library.
