According to TMZ, Dolly Parton passed away after a brief battle with cancer. The singer’s rep told the site that she was surrounded by her closest family members while at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

For a lot of Dolly’s fans around the world, the news comes as a shock as no one knew that she was dealing with her health issues.

The site added that Dolly was hospitalized in Nashville four days prior to her death, although she’s been dealing with multiple health problems for the last several months.

Now, as far as what kind of cancer Dolly had, it hasn’t been revealed. The singer’s rep has not shared any additional information as of press time.

Earlier in the month, Dolly announced that she was dealing with her declining health ever since her longtime partner, Carl Dean, passed away back in March 2025.

Dolly’s nephew, Brian Seaver, made the death announcement on Instagram.

“My name is Brian Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next,” Seaver said in a video.

“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it til now,” he added.
