Elton John Shares Big News With Fans

The Sacrifice singer has had one hell of a career and has been making plans to hang up his boots on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. He has been on the road for years now, with the tour first kicking off in 2018, and is slated to finally wrap in July 2023.

Elton John told his fans in New Zealand and Australia that he will be heading their way in January 2023 for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour much to the delight of his fans.

Taking to his Instagram on Tuesday, the Rocketman singer posted a video in which he made the exciting announcement.

“Hello Australia, Kia Ora, New Zealand! I’m so excited to share my very last Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows with you in January 2023,” he said in his video. “I cannot believe it’ll be THREE WHOLE YEARS since our last visit, a huge thank you to Auckland for keeping their tickets to the rescheduled shows for so long.”

He continued: “I promised back in 2020 that when we returned we’d take the opportunity to play a few encore shows. I know the last tickets sold fast and I want to be able to say farewell to you all! And Newcastle! I’m finally coming your way for my first Newcastle show EVER! Join me for a night of memories, singalongs, and a fond farewell…”

Captioning the post, he remarked: “Big news Australia + New Zealand! In 2020 I promised that when I came back to finish my interrupted farewell, I’d perform some encore shows. I love your part of the world dearly and cannot wait to share these concerts with you! Full info at oznz.eltonjohn.com.”

Fans were quick to react, with one writing: “This is literally the sweetest,” followed by a crying emoji. A second added: “OMG YES!!!!!!!,” whilst a third remarked: “Can’t wait to see you in Christchurch next year Elton.”

Elton’s tour Down Under will begin in Newcastle, New South Wales, on 10 January and end on 28 January in Auckland, New Zealand.

Elton John — Speaking Of His Last Days On Tour

Earlier this week, while speaking to Music, the English singer confessed that this was the finish line for him when it came to going on the road.

“I can tell you now that this is it,” he shared. “I will not be devoid of music but as far as schlepping around the world doing shows, I don’t want to do it anymore. I’ve done it since I was 17.”

Elton is currently performing a leg of his tour in the United States, most recently taking the stage in Detroit, Michigan. The singer clarified that given this was his final bow, this would be his last concert that he was planning to have in the state and thanked his fans for their support.

“Tonight is my 55th and my last concert in Michigan and Detroit and I want to say thank you for everyone that came tonight dressed up in their flashy glasses, who brought signs, everything,” he gushed. “You were responsible for me being here. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here so I can’t thank you enough.”

He’s had some truly special moments since kicking off his tour all those years ago, including a number one duet’s album in late 2021 and a worldwide chart-topper in Cold Heart with Dua Lipa.
