“Game Of Thrones” Alum Sophie Turner Joins New CW Show

I know you’re wondering why CW is introducing brand new shows while simultaneously cutting their existing original shows, and if I’m to guess, I’d say that it has a lot to do with the need to bring in more profits and reach new viewers. One of their newly approved shows is set to star Sophie Turner, who is much beloved for her role as Sansa Stark in the popular series, “Game of Thrones.”

Game Of Thrones – All We Know About CW’s Six-Part Production “Joan”

According to Deadline, a brand new series is coming to CW. The six-part production is set to follow a 1980s jewelry thief Joan Harrington, played by Sophie Turner. The plot will follow Joan – a devoted mother to a six-year-old daughter, Kelly – as she navigates life on the edge.

Joan is in a disastrous marriage with husband Gary, who is a dangerous criminal. However, when he abandons them and goes on a run, Joan is determined to create a better life for her daughter. Using the skills she’s acquired, she adopts new identities, makes new friends, and transforms herself into a masterful jewelry thief.

Other names currently associated with the crime drama include Frank Dillane, Kristy J. Curtis, Gershwyn Eustache Jr., and Laura Aikman.

Coming from snowed-In Productions, “Joan” is written by Anna Symon and directed by Richard Laxton, alongside executive producers Ruth Kenley-Letts, Jenny Van Der Lande, and Neil Blair. Paul Frift also joins the production as a producer.

Even though casting is reportedly complete and the series have been officially green-lit, its premiere date is yet to be announced. Since it will only carry six episodes, it is expected that production will be complete in no time and it might be given the spot of a show that’s ended or one on hiatus, due to its limited episodes.

There’s no promise that these six episodes are only a test to see how the audience will respond to it. For all we know, “Joan” may well end after these upcoming six episodes.
