This month of May has been somewhat filled with tragic deaths as random gunmen had been shooting and killing people recklessly, children inclusive. The situation has been emotional all through. Most celebrities have paid their tributes to the deceased, some held moments of silence while others made donations.
This brutal gun violence has caused more harm to not just the ones lost but also the living, Harry Styles chose to do something about it because calling for an end to it isn’t just enough. He’s taking action by pledging $1 million to a gun safety group in wake of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, where a gunman stormed Robb Elementary School and killed 21 people, including 19 children.
Harry Styles — On How The $1 Million Pledge Will Go
The “Night Changes” singer will be bringing the mega donation to the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, the education, research, and litigation arm of Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization. The proceeds will come from Styles’ upcoming North American tour following the release of his latest album, Harry’s House. Live Nation will match the donation.
“Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at Robb Elementary School in Texas,” the singer posted on Instagram. “On our North American tour, we will be partnering with Everytown who work to end gun violence, donating to support their efforts, and sharing their suggested action items.”
The Instagram post also noted that “Firearms are the #1 leading cause of death for American children and teens.”
Styles’ pledge also comes just days after the singer added 10 more dates to his tour. All 42 dates are sold out. According to Rolling Stone, the first leg of Styles’ tour sold nearly 720,000 tickets in 2021, making it the highest-selling tour of the year.
Harry Styles — Harry Scores Biggest Sales Week of 2022 With ‘Harry’s House’ Album
Harry Styles has just earned the biggest album sales week of the year so far.
The British pop star has officially cemented his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Harry’s House, which earned 521,500 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first week, per Billboard.

That number breaks down to 330,000 album sales—of which 182,000 were copies sold on vinyl—, 189,000 SEA units, and 2,500 TEA units. The record earned 246.96 million on-demand streams of its 13 total tracks, and secured a modern-era record for single-week vinyl album sales, beating out Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version), which sold 114,000 vinyl copies in its first week in 2021. This makes him the first UK male artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 three times.
“I was kind of like, ‘I’d be really fun to make an album called Harry’s House,’ and thought about it being this smaller thing,” Styles said during an interview with Zane Lowe when talking about his new album. “And then it was back to that thing of, ‘Maybe that’s an album I’ll make in four years or five years or whatever.’ And as I started making the album, I realized it wasn’t about the geographical location. It’s much more of an internal thing.”
