Helen Mirren Says ‘Nobody Had Heard Of Me’ The First Time She Worked With Harrison Ford

Helen Mirren who co-stars with Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford in the film 1923, shared some of her experiences the first time she filmed a movie with Harrison onset.

Helen and Harrison first co-starred in the 1986 Film, “The Mosquito Coast.” The actress revealed to “The Times U.K” how she felt the first time she filmed with Harrison.

According to Helen, 77, she was amazed to be co-starring with one of the actors she looked up to. She told “The Times U.K” that a lot has changed now.

“The relationship was obviously very, very different then because Harrison was already an enormous movie star and I was a theatre actress out of London and nobody had heard of me.”

She went on to tell the outlet that she feels like she’s almost an equal to the actor. “Now our relationship is very different because I’ve sort of caught up with him. Well, I’ll never catch up with him completely but I’m a little bit closer than I was.”

Harrison also spoke with the outlet. When Harrison was asked about Helen’s growth onstage since the last time they filmed together, the actor acknowledged that Helen has gotten over feeling intimidated by him.

The two stars are currently in the prequel of Yellowstone’s 1923. Helen plays the role of Cara Dutton who is the wife of Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford).

The outlet asked Helen how much of Harrison she remembers since their first film and Helen said, “He had that carapace which is essential for people who have reached that level of popular stardom. It’s so full-on, you have to develop some sort of defensive armor. He was always lovely to kids; grown-ups, not so much.”

Helen also recounted a story of how she witnessed firsthand Harrison fend off a rude person. To date, the incident remained unforgettable to Helen.

“We went to this party and this woman put her face in his face and said, ‘I’m sure you think I know who you are, well I don’t,’ It was just so rude and thoughtless and horrible, and that’s the sort of thing he had to deal with. He dealt with it with great grace, I have to say. He was just like, ‘Well, OK.’
