Celine Dion is now ready to talk and talk show host Hoda Kotb is ready to listen, along with legions of Celine Dion fans might I add.
The global superstar sat down with Hoda ahead of the premiere of her documentary “I Am: Celine Dion” to discuss her life since she was forced to cancel her tour due to being diagnosed of a rare neural disorder, called stiff person syndrome.
Let me just say that there’s a lot to cry and be sad about, but there’s also a lot to be hopeful about. But more than anything, we get to relearn why the name Celine Dion and passion are synonymous.
Hoda Kotb – Opens Up About “A Very Scary” Time For Celine Dion
Hoda Kotb just shocked us with a major Celine Dion update. Did you know Celine Dion almost died of stiff person syndrome? Yes, it’s no joke.
“Celine Dion at some point, she is now much better, but at some point she almost died, which is something that she says,” Kotb shared with fans on the Thursday episode of ‘Hoda and Jenna’ as a way to tease her upcoming interview with the “Let’s Talk About Love” songstress.
“It was a scary time,” Kotb, 59, said.
This is coming after the trailer for Dion’s Prime Video documentary – out June 25 – dropped, which saw the singer detail her journey to recovery and the ache she feels due to her inability to tour and meet fans.
While reflecting on her interview with Dion, Kotb added, “She was diagnosed with a terrible disease and at one point she wondered if she was going to make it, whether she was going to live through it.”
Hoda Kotb – Says Celine Dion Sang For Her: “Incredible”
While Dion doesn’t ever want to rule out the possibility of performing for her fans again, Kotb detailed that the reason she’s been largely out of the spotlight for so long was because of her trying recovery.
“A lot of people are wondering what happened. What was wrong,” Kotb noted, before adding that Dion was also open about how the condition affected her voice as well.
“We’ve missed her and it was a very emotional interview,” Kotb said. “We’ll see where she is on her journey of coming back, but I know people are cheering her on.”
Celine Dion once sang, “where there was weakness, I found my strength,” and in this case it couldn’t be truer.
Kotb happily revealed that she got to hear the singer sing for her and that she sounded “incredible,” even though she’s still reluctant to share her voice with the rest of the world.
On Tuesday, June 11, Celine Dion’s “emotional” interview with Hoda Kotb will air, and I’m sure fans can’t wait to finally hear her story.
