Hope Solo Wants Hall Of Fame Induction To Be Postponed

Hope Solo Barely a month after her arrest for impaired driving (DWI), resisting arrest, and misdemeanor child abuse, Hope Solo a two time Olympic Gold Medalist asked for her induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame which was scheduled to take place on 21st May 2022, to be postponed to 2023, on the grounds that she volunteered to join an alcohol treatment program.

The soccer star, who was initially slated to be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame this May, said on April 29 that she “will be voluntarily entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program to address my challenges with alcohol.”

“I have contacted the Hall of Fame and respectfully requested a postponement of my Hall of Fame induction ceremony to 2023,” she said in a statement shared on her social media accounts. “At this time, my energies and focus are totally directed to my health, healing, and taking care of my family: I want to thank the Hall of Fame for their support and for understanding my decision.”

The National Soccer Hall of Fame confirmed the postponement of Solo’s induction on the same day of her announcement, saying in a separate statement that the organization “fully supports her decision and looks forward to honoring her and her historic achievements at next year’s induction ceremony.”

Hope was elected into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in January alongside fellow players Shannon Boxx, Clint Dempsey, Marco Etcheverry, Linda Hamilton, and referee Esse Baharmast.

Hope Solo’s Issues With The Law

Hope, 40, has had several issues with the law, below are a few.

On March 31st of last month, Hope was taken to Forsyth County Jail for DWI and driving under the influence. Reports said that after Hope’s arrest, cops took her into custody in the parking lot of a Walmart in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Cops say she was booked for impaired driving (DWI), resisting arrest, and misdemeanor child abuse. Cops said her twins were in the car when authorities pulled her over.

Hope was later released and she took to her Twitter to tweet “On the advice of counsel, Hope can’t speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.”

In 2015, Hope was speed driving with her husband Jerramy Stevens in Los Angeles, as she was driving an official vehicle of the United States national team the federation suspended her for 30 days.

In 2014, Hope was arrested for beating her half-sister’s son, the world champion was charged with fourth-degree domestic violence, as the assaulted did not cooperate she was released.

Hope Solo Accused Joseph Blatter Of Sexual Abuse

In 2017, Hope Solo publicly denounced Joseph Blatter for an alleged case of sexual abuse. According to her, during the 2013 Ballon d’Or gala, the former FIFA president touched her ass without her consent: “He felt my ass. It was at the Ballon d’Or award ceremony a few years ago. Just before going on stage. It’s something that has become vulgarized.”

Hope retired from professional soccer in 2016, with the U.S. national team she won the 2015 World Cup and took the gold medal at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games.
