Jamie Lee Curtis – Reveals She Knew She Would Play Donna Berzatto After Watching “The Bear” Season 1

The “Everything Everywhere all at Once” star joined “The Bear” season 2 as Donna Berzatto, the mother of the series’ main character Carmen Berzatto and his sister Sugar.

The acclaimed series follows Carmen, a renowned chef, who returns home to Chicago to run the family restaurant after his brother’s death.

Have you ever felt so sure that something’s bound to be? Well, Jamie Lee Curtis felt that way about playing Carmen and Sugar’s mother in the next season of the show.

The star shared this little tidbit on Instagram, alongside a selfie of her character Donna, writing: “Sugar asks Carmen if he had spoken to their mother, in that second I knew that I would play her,” Curtis wrote.

“Don’t ask me how. I just knew. A year later, after the wild success of the brilliant first season, [series creator] Chris Storer offered me the role of a lifetime.”

Curtis added that her character’s complicated persona, which is totally relatable, helps make the show speak to the fans. “There’s not a person alive who won’t relate to what it feels like to be around someone like [her],” she wrote. “I certainly have my own experiences. That’s what makes the show so magnificent. We can relate and commiserate and celebrate all of our communal survival in this thing called…. life.”

Fans flooded her comment section with praises for her performance, even advising her to start working on and polishing her Emmys speech. “One of the greatest performances by anyone that I have ever seen,” one fan raved.
