Jenna Ortega Reveals Co-Star Asked Her About Johnny Depp Dating Rumor

Rumours that the 21-year-old Jenna Ortega is dating Johnny Depp, who is 61, have circulated – despite both actors having denied any serious relationship.

Despite their mutual union with the filmmaker Tim Burton, Ortega quashed the rumors in a BuzzFeed video this year.

Ortega Responds To The Ongoing Rumors

Last year, several media outlets quoted Ortega responding to the dating rumors via an Instagram story, allegedly stating, “This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.” However, in the BuzzFeed interview, Ortega disputed this, revealing that she never made such a statement.

“It’s so insane to me,” Ortega commented in the video. “I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that. Articles do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that that was pretty hilarious.”

All We Know About the Raging Rumors

Ortega, known for her roles in “Wednesday” and the upcoming “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” mentioned that the rumor even reached her co-star Richard E. Grant during the filming of “Death of a Unicorn.” She recalled him asking, “Oh, so you and Johnny?” to which she responded with laughter, clarifying that she had no connection to Depp.

Despite the speculation, both Ortega and Depp have consistently denied any personal or professional relationship.

Depp’s representative also issued a statement last year, asserting, “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her.”

The statement continued, “He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”

Ortega’s Stand On Privacy

Ortega’s privacy has been a recurring theme as she navigates her rising fame. In an interview with The New York Times, she shared her discomfort with the invasion of her privacy, stating, “I was a private person, and I prefer to be a private person, so I think understanding that there’s a lot more eyes and a lot more people watching — and I’m so underdeveloped! My prefrontal cortex isn’t even fully there yet, technically, you know?”
