Jennifer Lopez wears many hats. But the actress, singer, and dancer most values her role of mom. And now Jennifer has shared details about her gender neutral child Emme.
Learn what Lopez revealed about the 14-year-old. And see what the actress shared about Emme’s gender fluidity. Get all the details below.
Jennifer Lopez – Celebrates Child Emme
Emme, 14, enjoys a very special relationship with mom Jennifer Lopez. Recently, Lopez introduced her teenager honoring Emme’s request for gender neutral pronouns. As a result, the singer/actress referred to Emme using the pronouns “they” and “them,” noted Hello magazine.
Jennifer and Emme have cherished their mom-child bond for years. For instance, Lopez recently cried during her Halftime documentary. The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival. And in the wake of the premiere, Jennifer told her social media followers about her faith in Emme.
At the time, her 11-year-old child sat in the cage on the enormous stage. And though it might appear scary to outsiders, Lopez explained how she helped Emme feel safe. “I wanted Emme to sit in the cage, putting her on that big stage, although it would seem scary for a lot of people, she doesn’t feel nervous because she’s next to me,” explained Jennifer.
Jennifer Lopez – Shares Pride In Emme
Chatting with social media, Jennifer revealed how she helped Emme to become emotionally strong. And she told her child, “You look right down that camera and you tell every little girl in the world to get loud and to never, ever back down. And it was important.”
However, the singer/actress also valued her heritage. “And I wanted to come out, after she did that, draped in the American flag, because I’m proud to be an American,” emphasized Lopez. “But also I am not just American. I’m also Puerto Rican. And I wanted the flip side of that to be a Puerto Rican flag.”

And Jennifer also shared her special pride in Emme. Honoring her teen’s desire to change pronouns, Lopez believes that Emme has authenticated her true self. And the two recently showed their bond spending time at Ben Affleck’s film set, reported the Daily Mail.
Jennifer Lopez – Uses Gender Neutral Pronouns At Emme’s Request
The 52-year-old actress held hands with her 14-year-old child watching the behind-the-scenes aspects of Ben’s film. Ever since Emme requested to use gender neutral pronouns, Jennifer has made a point of following through. For instance, when Lopez asked Emme to come to the stage at a recent event, the actress referred to her child as “they” and “them.”
And Jennifer also joked about how busy her teenager has become. “The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this and I ask them to sing with me all the time, and they won’t. So this is a very special occasion. They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey,” she teased about Emme. “They cost me when they come out. But they’re worth every single penny because they’re my favorite duet partner of all time. So if you will indulge me,” Lopez asked her child. In addition to Emme, Jennifer shares Max with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, 53.

Puerto Rico is AMERICA
Getting too convoluted for me but I wish her the best.
I think it’s great! Jennifer is showing support and love for her child…and that is what our children need most in the chaotic and scary times we are living in.
This isn’t happening if raised in an intact family unit in Middle America. 14 year old kid raised in chaos, living on her cell phone, looking for attention.
Child is too young . Mom should know this
Too young to be called “they?” Literally anyone can be a “they.” A single person, a group of people, male or female or neither. They had always been a perfectly acceptable pronoun, and I have no idea why a 14 year old is too young to know this, if a presumably grown adult doesn’t.
Gender neutral my a$$. You're either male or female. Nothing neutral about that!!!!
Her being with that horror affleck would screw anyone up. He’s the most nasty disrespectful person when you know him off camera as we did when working as a crew member for a film.
"They" is a perfectly acceptable plural pronoun. The current trend of changing the word’s usage to apply to a single person doesn't make it correct.
