Jerry Springer, Legendary Talk Show Host And Campaign Adviser For Robert F. Kennedy Dead At 79

Jerry Springer’s family has announced that the legendary talk show host has died at 79. Springer’s family says he passed away peacefully at home in Chicago.

Jerry Springer – Dies Following Cancer Diagnosis

A spokesperson for the family says that Jerry was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. According to TMZ, Springer’s health took a turn for the worse last week.

Springer was well known for his at times controversial talk show which often had fans chanting his name. “The Jerry Springer Show” aired for 27 years.

TMZ says their sources reveal that Springer had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Although Jerry will be mostly remembered for his talk show, he actually started in politics years ago.

Jerry ran for U.S. Congress in 1970, a campaign which he lost. Jerry later got elected to Cincinnati’s City Council in 1971 … and became the city’s mayor in 1977 where he served one term.

Jerry Springer And Robert Kennedy’s Connection

Robert F. Kennedy was Springer’s first political hero. Springer said of Kennedy, “Bobby Kennedy was in politics for all the right reasons, especially in the final years of his life.

He cared about people who were struggling, who were discriminated against, who had no chance to succeed. Why else be in politics unless you want to make life better for people who have nothing?”

After Springer’s political career played out, he began “The Jerry Springer Show” which debuted in 1991. Little did Springer know the success he would have with the talk show and his variety of guests.

The show went off the air in 2018 and Springer later began “Judge Jerry” which lasted three seasons. Of course, Judge Jerry was a courtroom-centered show. According to NBC NewsSpringer said in regards to his show, “I don’t watch the show, but it’s not aimed at 66-year-old men. If I were in college, I would watch. I enjoy doing it. It’s a lot of fun.”

Last Season Jerry appeared on “The Masked Singer” where he performed as “The Beetle” and sang a Frank Sinatra classic.

“Family spokesman Jene Galvin said: ‘Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word. ‘He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.’

Jerry has been hosting a folk music show on a local radio station in Cincinnati when he was forced to stop working.
Springer will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Jerry is survived by a daughter and a sister.
