Joanna Gaines (The Fixer Upper) really knows how to celebrate a birthday, waking up at 11 a.m. and just basically having cake from Magnolia Table, a windows-down drive and adorable puppies. Could she go wrong?
Joanna Gaines – Cheap, But Absolutely Beautiful, Birthday Celebration
Joanna Gaines celebrated a simple non-extravagant birthday and yet it filled her heart with love. The Fixer Upper star turned 43 on Monday, taking to Instagram to share how she and her family celebrated the big +1 day. She called the family affair “the best kind of birthday.”
“I slept in til 11 am, my sister brought me a latte and a new pair of birks,” the mom of five shared on her birthday morning. It looks like her husband Chip, 46, helped her steal a little more sleep by putting up a “Do Not Disturb” sign on their bedroom door using Post-It notes.
She then added, “I ate a cheeseburger and chocolate cake at @magnoliatable, hung out in the garden, and then rode in the old car with the kids – windows down and the music turned up loud.”
The mom of five went on to share a yummy picture of a big slice of chocolate cake with a candle in it from their family restaurant in Waco, Texas, along with pictures of the kids running around on their 40-acre farm and of her driving the car with windswept hair.
“Oh and puppies,” she remembered to add, in honor of the two adorable and fluffy pups that displayed their cuteness in a picture she shared. “The best kind of birthday… thank you for all the kind bday messages today, I’m feeling the love!”
The Fixer Upper star received a lot of birthday wishes from her famous friends as well as from many fans. “BIRTHDAY HERO,” HGTV designer and soon-to-be Magnolia Network star Brian Patrick Flynn wrote.
Actress Brooklyn Decker also shared some love with Joanna wishing her a “Happy happy!!!!”
Chef Andrew Zimmerman commented on the post with “HBD!!!” and Counting On star Anna Duggar added her own well-wishes, writing “Happy Birthday!!!!”
Joanna Gaines – Work And Delays On Joanna And Chip’s Magnolia Shows
The birthday celebrations must have acted as a much-needed distraction from all the hard work Joanna and Chip have been doing to bring about the launch of their Magnolia Network app on July 15.
The couple first revealed that they would be returning to TV with their own network in November 2018, two months after their popular show Fixer Upper aired its finale on HGTV, and since then, the renovation stars have been hard at work developing a full slate of new original series.

Magnolia Network has seen its share of delays like most everything else as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It was originally intended to debut in October 2020, but faced significant production delays and was further pushed to early 2021, and then on to January 2022.
Discovery+ is currently airing previews of several of the new Magnolia shows, including the first four episodes of Welcome Home, and single episodes of many others.
Magnolia Network’s parent company Discovery has announced in February the release of the Magnolia app on July 15, 2021. The app will have access to a list of new shows including the first full seasons of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, the full Fixer Upper archive, The Lost Kitchen and others.
