John Travolta Survives Tragedy

It might seem like a fabulous life filled with glitz and glamour. But Travolta has experienced his share of tragedy. And although the Saturday Night Fever actor remains alive and well amid the current death hoax trend, John has lost family members and close friends.

Famed as an Academy Award-nominated actor as well as singer, Travolta also became an aviator. Born on February 18, 1954, John turned into a superstar in the 1970s after his roles in Saturday Night Fever and Grease.

The actor then proved that age had strengthened his talents with standout roles in Get Shorty and Pulp Fiction. But privately, John suffered. And he went through the deaths of his son Jett to a seizure and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, to breast cancer.

However, Travolta shared that Kelly kept her cancer private for several years. But the actor then later honored his wife’s brave battle. And John also discussed his pain over losing his son Jett.

John Travolta Cherishes His Children

The late actress, Kelly Preston, and John Travolta welcomed three children into their lives before her death in 2020 from breast cancer at 57, per People. Their son Jett arrived in April 1992. And the couple welcomed their second child, daughter Ella Bleu, in April 2000.

But in January 2009, Kelly’s and John’s oldest son Jett died at age 16. The couple then welcomed their third child, son Benjamin, in 2010. And Travolta shared that Ben gives “the house a renewed spirit and purpose.”

But the actor also has revealed a challenging discussion that he went through with his son Ben after the death of his wife and Ben’s mother Kelly Preston. And Travolta recalled, “‘[Ben] said to me once, ‘Because mom passed away, I’m afraid you’re going to.”

But John reassured his son, “Well, it’s a very different thing.” And he described how he told Ben about “the differences about my longevity and her limited life” as a result of Kelly’s cancers.”

John Travolta Stays Strong

Fans responded with praise for Travolta. For instance, one shared that John has gone “through so many tough losses in his life. He could have folded due to the pain,” noted the fan. “But he remains strong for those remaining kids. Big props to John, strong man.”

And another shared, “My heart breaks for his son. I lost my mom when I was 30 and I still miss her everyday. For a child so young losing their mother is absolutely devastating. Luckily he seems to have a father who is both caring and sensitive. Good job John!”
