John Travolta Reacts To Timothée Chalamet Tying His Box Office Record

John Travolta is all about fair play, and he couldn’t be prouder that he’s got a real pal to share one of his greatest box office achievements with, four decades after it originally happened. Here’s what he has to say about it.

Back in the days when John Travolta, now 70, was all the rage, he appeared in two movies that were a smash at the time of their release.

The films I’m talking about are 1970s “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease,” which were released a mere eight months apart.

Now, over four decades later, Timothée Chalamet, 28, has tied the record with his leading role efforts on “Dune: Part Two” and “Wonka.” Both movies are the only ones to surpass the domestic $200 million total since last July.

“Wonka” is the third live-action adaptation of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” but instead of following the eccentric chocolate maker on the journey as he chooses his successor from a group of children, Chalamet’s “Wonka” gives us a glimpse into what his younger years are like as he sets out ti build the impressive factory.

The film premiered in December to rave reviews, going on to earn $218 million locally and totaling $630 million worldwide.

His new film “Dune: Part Two” opened in theaters on March 1, and has so far accumulated $494.7 million globally. According to Indiewire, the new Chalamet film co-starring Zendaya, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh, looks set to surpase ”Wonka’s” global earnings.

With all this success already locked in the bag, Chalamet is getting ready to step into his new role as Bob Dylan in a new biopic exploring the life of the singer-songwriter.

To add to his box office achievement is John Travolta congratulating the younger star on joining the club. He said: “Congratulations Timothée! It’s great to have someone to share my box office record with. Sincerely, JT.”
