Johnny Depp Intends To Purchase UK Pub

The Checkers Inn, a UK Pub owned by Paul Hollywood’s fiancee Melissa Spalding is up for grabs for the price of £1 million, and Captain Jack Sparrow is interested in buying it.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor Johnny Depp got to hear that pub which is located in Smarden, near Ashford, Kent is up for sale through his close friend Ralph Steadman who happens to be the pub regular and illustrator.

It’s said that Depp has always shown interest in the location of the pub which is owned by Hollywood’s fiancee, Spalding. The couple has been dating since 2019.

A source close to the “Alice in Wonderland” actor told “The U.S. Sun” that, “Depp adores the pub and has done for years. Johnny loves the history and has spoken before about wanting to buy a pub. It’s right in the heart of the English countryside.”

The “Edward Scissors” actor is currently living a peaceful and calm life in his £13 million property in Somerset. Somerset is a rural part of England located on the southwest side of the county.

The 59-year-old shared with “Somerset Life” magazine for their April issue that since he began living in Britain, he has been living a quiet life devoid of attention.

“British people are cool and will greet you as if you are a neighbor without going over the top,” said Depp._per PEOPLE.

He went on to add that he has no problem with being recognized by his fans and obliging to their “autograph” requests but, he mostly prefers having his privacy.

“I don’t mind if people want an autograph or a brief chat but not when I am having some private time with my family.” Depp also added, “I can go into shops without being surrounded by people wanting selfies. I don’t mind that up to a point, but sometimes it gets a little too crowded.”

You may actually find this difficult to believe but, the star of “Alice in Wonderland” is not an extrovert, he’s actually “shy.”

Depp admitted to the outlet, “In truth, I’m quite a shy person.” He continued, “That’s one of the great things about Britain, and especially Somerset. I can just be me — and that’s nice.”

Speaking about the other properties he owns, the “Murder On The Orient Express” actor said, “I just love places with character. I have various houses in various places and they all mean something special to me. I don’t have them just to say I own them, I have them for use and because they are a bit special.”
