“I don’t mind if people want an autograph or a brief chat but not when I am having some private time with my family.” Depp also added, “I can go into shops without being surrounded by people wanting selfies. I don’t mind that up to a point, but sometimes it gets a little too crowded.”
Johnny Depp — Depp Said He’s “A Shy Person”
You may actually find this difficult to believe but, the star of “Alice in Wonderland” is not an extrovert, he’s actually “shy.”
Speaking about the other properties he owns, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor said, “I just love places with character. I have various houses in various places and they all mean something special to me. I don’t have them just to say I own them, I have them for use and because they are a bit special.”
Depp’s Somerset property which has 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms was purchased by the actor in 2014. That same year he engaged and married his now ex-wife Amber Heard.
The former couple met on the set of Rum Diary, in 2011 and tied the knot three years later. They filed for divorce in 2016. Last year, Depp won a defamation lawsuit against Heard.
The lawsuit came after Depp sued Heard over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed chronicling her experiences as a domestic violence survivor.
Heard filed a $100 million countersuit, alleging that Depp and his attorneys defamed her by referring to her abuse allegations as a “sexual violence hoax.”
Depp won his lawsuit after a Judge in Fairfax County, Virginia sided with him and awarded him $15 Million for damages. The judge, later on, reduced the punitive damages to $350,000, according to Fairfax County legal limit.
The following month after she lost her defamation case, Heard appealed the verdict. Heard’s appeal for verdict was made official on July 21, 2022, by her lawyers who filed the notice.
In December 2022, Heard announced that she “made a very difficult decision” to settle the defamation case.
“I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed, I make this decision having lost faith in the American legal system, where my unprotected testimony served as entertainment and social media fodder.”
