Johnny Depp To Star In New Pirates Film After Disney Fired?

Johnny Depp became beloved for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. But then came Amber Heard’s accusations about domestic violence. And Disney cut its ties with Depp faster than you can say “Walk the plank.”

However, a new report reveals how Disney and Depp might have changed their views on each other. Will the actor who described the company as having betrayed him consider a new project? And would Disney welcome Depp back? Find out the answers below.

Johnny Depp – Would Return To Disney For THIS Reason

After making his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies so successful, Johnny Depp felt betrayed when Disney fired him. But time tends to change emotions. And an insider shared that Depp now would consider returning to Disney under certain conditions. “If it’s the right project, he’ll do it,” the source told People.

And the insider shared that the actor, 60, would possibly even return for multiple films if Disney makes the right offer. “Anything is possible,” added the source. As for whether that means a new Pirates film, the source didn’t reveal. But others have observed that Disney has begun “inching the door open” to teaming up with Depp once more.

Johnny Depp To Star In New Pirates Film After Disney Fired?

The new report about Depp returning to his role of Captain Jack Sparrow takes place about 12 months after his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. And the verdict from the jury of seven primarily took Johnny’s side. However, Amber won one of her counter-claims.

Disney ‘Primed’ For Pirates Reboot With Johnny Depp

However, the rumors about Depp returning to the Pirates franchise have sometimes contradicted each other. But the film producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared that his team had become involved in creating two separate Pirates scripts. One starred Margot Robbie. And as for the potential of Depp in the other? The film producer shared, “The future is yet to be decided.”

However, a former Disney executive offered a more positive look at Depp’s future as Captain Jack. And the exec shared, “I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Capt. Jack back on board.” Because Depp’s character became so beloved, the exec feels Disney likely will want to use the “potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture.”

And the insider also pointed out the popularity of Tom Cruise’s return to his own franchise. “With Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, there is huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises,” noted the source. Depp earned an Oscar nomination for playing Jack Sparrow in the original 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. And the sequels proved equally successful, with releases in 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2017.
