After the Super Bowl LVIII, a rumor began to spread that Taylor Swift had Kanye West removed from the stadium after the rapper bought his ticket in front of the “Don’t Blame Me” singer’s suit at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. Kanye has responded to the rumor and he did it in two different ways.
Before I get into Kanye’s response, let me explain how the rumor came to be. It all started after former NFL player Brandon Marshall said in a recent episode of “I Am Athlete’s Paper Route,” that the father of four, “Had a mask on with his logo on the mask, right? Typical Kanye. Taylor Swift gets pissed off. She boom boom makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium….He was trying to leverage her celebrity.” Removed From 2024 Super Bowl
The story quickly made rounds and it was somehow believable due to the years-long feud between the two. Few hours after the news, Kanye took to his Instagram to announce that his latest album “Vulture” vol.1 has topped the charts on Spotify. His post read, “Kanye West has overtaken Taylor Swift as the top artist globally on Spotify.” The post came with a picture of him and Taylor.
Later on, a representative for the “Donda” rapper, 46, shut down the rumor and told “Forbes” in a statement, “This is a completely fabricated rumor. It is not true.”
Kanye West — On Kanye And Taylor’s Feud
The “Graduation” rapper and the “Bad Blood” singer’s beef is over a decade old. It dates as far back as 2009 when Kanye interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech when she won the 2009 “MTV Video Music Awards for her “You Belong with Me.”
Before Taylor could say Jack, Kanye bounced up the stage and snatched the microphone off Taylor’s hands, and said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
As if that wasn’t enough, Kanye humiliated Taylor once again at VMAs in 2015. The following year, 2016, the 46-year-old released his song “Famous” and in the lyrics he rapped, “For all my South Side n****s that know me best/ I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.” That line didn’t sit well with the “22” hitmaker and she made it clear to him.
However, Kanye claimed that before dropping the song, he made Taylor aware of it via phone call but the 34-year-old maintained that he didn’t tell her about the “I made that bitch famous” line. Back then, Kim Kardashian who was still married to Kanye released a record of the said call, and Taylor could be heard saying, “I’m really glad you had the respect to call me that and tell me that as a friend, about the song. It’s just a really cool thing to do, and a really good show of friendship.”
In a 2019 interview with “Rolling Stone,” the “Cruel Summer” singer told the outlet, “When he gets on the phone with me, and I was so touched that he would be respectful and, like, tell me about this one line in the song… And I was like, ‘Okay, good. We’re back on good terms,’ and then when I heard the song, I was like, ‘I’m done with this. If you want to be on bad terms, let’s be on bad terms, but just be real about it.’”
Meanwhile, the real version of the call was later released in 2020, proving Taylor right about “*that call*.” She added, “You know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for 4 years.”
