The “Vulture” rapper Kanye West is not happy with his former business partner Adidas and he took to his social media to share his pain.
On Monday, the “Yeezy” designer sat in what looked like a hotel lobby, switched on his phone video, and called out the sports apparel company for creating and selling products under his brand name “Yeezy” without his approval.
In the video, Kanye, 46, who was visibly mad at Adidas ranted to his followers, “Not only are [Adidas] putting out fake [Yeezys] that are nonapproved, [Adidas] is suing me for 250 million dollars.”
While ranting, he made no effort to hide his titanium grills that he installed with $850,000. He complained that there are some Yeezy products still underway but Adidas has no intention of paying him for his name “Being on them.”
He went on to caption the post, “Adidas is selling fake Yeezys and not paying me and suing me at the same time.” Not long after, his die-hard fans filled the comments section advising him to “Boycott Adidas!” They went on to admit “We were only wearing Adidas because of you.”
Kanye West — On Kanye’s Fallout With Adidas
Back in 2022, Kanye went on a dissing spree where he dissed all his business partners and pronounced most of them dead. Around that time, he posted a fake New York Times news that said that the Adidas CEO was dead on his social media. This was on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
Kanye really faked the news of Kasper Røsterd’s death and published it on social media as if it was breaking news. Kanye’s post read, “Kasper Rørsted also dead at 60.” That same year he brought himself out to slander the Jewish community by constantly making anti-semitic comments and posts online. For that reason, several brands that he partnered with dropped him.
Following the long list of antisemitic comments Kanye “Ye” West has been dropping, companies such as Balenciaga, Vogue, and CAA that are in partnership with him went on to cut ties with the rapper. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, Adidas dropped their partnership with Kanye.
On that fateful day, Adidas released a statement that reads: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. adidas will stop the adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.” The statement concluded with, “This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to €250 million on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.”
