The investigation of the alleged criminal battery on an unknown guy by Kanye “Ye” West has been resolved, and as of Tuesday, August 23, the issue was done and dusted. Okay, here’s what happened. Early this year at 3.00 am on January 13, to be exact, Kanye “Ye” West had a brawl with a guy, it was reported that Kanye hit the guy and by the time the LAPD came Kanye has left the scene.
After the news of the battery by Kanye broke, investigations kicked off to determine what happened and how to go about the matter because if Kanye was found guilty of battery, Kanye would have to serve jail time of 6 months max. Two days after the incident, Kanye explained to Jason Lee during his interview in Hollywood Unlocked what took place on that day.
Kanye West — Kanye’s Side Of The Story
The incident happened during the time Kanye was having difficulty getting to his kids after his split from Kim Kardashian. According to Kanye, his two female cousins came by so he sent them to go sort out the issue with Kim (Kanye went to see the children but the security at Kim’s house didn’t let him in). Kanye said he just finished two songs, he came from the studio and some guy walked up to him “and this dude, he just had this real attitude, like, ‘What you gonna do? And see that?’ Imma just tell you, that blue COVID mask ain’t stop that knockout, you know what I’m saying?”
Kanye went on to explain that the guy he hit wasn’t even a fan but someone who wants to make money off him. Kanye said the guy is someone who goes about “taking autographs to make money on them” so the guy wants to get Kanye’s autograph and sell it to make money. Kanye went on to explain that he got into a physical altercation with the guy and just then his cousins pulled up, and one of them walked up to him to tell him they didn’t get the job done so he told the girl to give him some space because he was already in a bad mood.
“So now my cousins are coming back and they have not delivered on it. So I end up getting into an altercation with the guy that wanted to make money off of my autographs, then my cousin pulls up and she’s talking to me. I say, ‘Give me a breather. Get away from me.’”
Kanye West — The Reaction From Kanye’s Lawyer To The No Charge News
Recently, the L. A City Attorney’s Office revealed that after careful investigation of the incident, they came to the conclusion that they would be dropping the criminal charges against Kanye. When the news came out, Kanye’s attorney Michael A. Goldstein couldn’t hide his delight at the fact that his client will no longer be charged with criminal battery.
Goldstein said in a statement that he was glad that it has been resolved that his client did nothing wrong, Goldstein went on to explain that two nights following the physical altercation with Kanye, the guy that wanted to get Kanye’s autograph kept following Kanye around and pestering Kanye. Goldstein said his client did everything he could to avoid the autograph stalker, Goldstein said there are video clips to prove it.
Goldstein’s statement reads: “For the two nights proceeding this particular incident, the same gentleman followed my client to three different locations and was captured on video approaching my client repeatedly entering into his personal space, which was unacceptable. The information concerning these prior incidents, along with video and photographic evidence, were provided to the LA City Attorney’s office for review. Ultimately, the City Attorney made the right decision.”
