And for the 2022 award ceremony, host Kenan Thompson took on that challenge by turning to Leonardo DiCaprio. Thompson’s joke about the actor’s habit of dating only women under 25 went viral with its timeliness.

However, Thompson actually stole the spotlight from that year’s co-hosts, Colin Jost and Michael Che. As a result, NBC decided to pick a winner by inviting Kenan to host for the 2022 Emmy Awards, noted Yahoo.

And after donning a top hat and tuxedo, Thompson titled himself the Mayor of Television. But the so-called mayor proved his wicked sense of humor during his monologue. “Zendaya just turned 26 last week, happy birthday,” announced Kenan. “26 is a weird age in Hollywood. I mean, you’re young enough to play a high school student but too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio.”

DiCaprio, 47, famously has a track record for dating only women younger than 25. And his girlfriend history has become a treasure chest for online memes mocking how Leonardo dumps girlfriends when they celebrate their 25th birthday. But for Emmy Awards host Thompson, the actor’s dating habits turned into the perfect timely joke at the ceremony on Monday night.

And the timing proved perfect for two reasons. First, Zendaya took home the Emmy Award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for portraying high school student Rue in Euphoria. And second, Thompson succeeded with the joke because Leonardo just ended a romance with a much younger girlfriend, supposedly because she went over his 25-year-old age limit.

However, Thompson got extra lucky in his timing. Because according to Page Six, DiCaprio just may have his eyes on a woman who breaks his girlfriend rules. Gigi Hadid, 27, and the actor have enjoyed getting to know each other in New York City, revealed an insider.

But the two currently hang out only in groups with friends. As a result, the source emphasized that they have not yet begun officially dating. However, just a few weeks after DiCaprio broke up with his latest ex-girlfriend, Camila Morrone, the actor got spotted spending time with Gigi. And another source shared that Leonardo seems willing at last to end his track record of dating women only until they reach age 25.
