And their decision to work together has sparked rumors that the two might soon become “the hottest new couple in Hollywood,” an insider told New Idea.

“No one is surprised they hit it off,” added the source. The dating rumors began after both Kevin and Reese went through divorces. And the Yellowstone actor, 68, has wanted to work with the Legally Blonde star, 47, for years.

But when the two got together to evaluate scripts, Reese and Kevin experienced a mutual attraction, said the source. “Kevin’s had his eye on Reese ever since she won her Oscar,” added the insider. “But he didn’t count on finding her absolutely charming as hell.”

And ever since they started discussing projects, Reese and Kevin have gotten into the habit of texting and calling every day. But the insider revealed, “They’ve been calling and texting on the pretense of finding the perfect script.” However, those communications have become “a daily occurrence.”

Both Kevin and Reese have survived two divorces. Witherspoon most recently split from Jim Toth after 12 years. And Costner finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner. But in the wake of their splits, the A-list stars have proved “extremely compatible,” shared the source.

And Kevin even invited Reese to spend time with him at his ranch in Aspen, Colorado. However, the Yellowstone star’s two-part Western film, Horizon, looms in his future. And the actor “wants more Oscars for this, not tabloid headlines,” pointed out the source.

As a result, Kevin and Reese want to keep their romance under the radar. “But as soon as his Horizon commitments are done, they may be more relaxed about being seen together in public. It’s still very early days,” noted the insider.

And for the near future, the two just want to enjoy time together. However, Kevin views Reese as “a genius. And he’s in way over his head,” added the source. “But Reese has completely disarmed him. Their friends think they’re a great match but are giving them the space they need to see if it’s the real deal before laying all their cards down in public.”

And a source shared that Reese has wanted to meet a man in the entertainment world. But the Legally Blonde star also wants to enjoy some fun. And because Kevin just survived his own divorce, he wants to go slow as well.
