Lady Gaga Shares “Joker” 2 Details Following News She’s Joining the Film’s Cast
Oh now, Lady Gaga’s involvement in “Joker” franchise has gotten me all excited. Can I seriously wait until October 4, 2024, when the movie will be released?
On Thursday, the “Bad Romance” songstress teased details of the upcoming movie on her social media channels.
The actress and singer, 36, is now set to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming musical sequel to 2019’s Joker.
Confirming her casting, she posted an animated video of her and Phoenix’s silhouettes set to old-timey music. She also revealed that “Joker’s” sequel title will be “Joker: Folie à Deux”, along with sharing the sequel’s release date.
PEOPLE first confirmed Gaga’s involvement with the movie, especially that she was in talks to play a major role in the movie as the Joker’s love interest and partner Harley Quinn.
The Hollywood Reporter would go on to disclose that Lady Gaga’s Quinn would exist “in a different DC universe” than the one played by Margot Robbie in the Franchise’s counterpart: “Suicide Squad” (2016), “Birds of Prey” (2020), and “The Suicide Squad” (2020).
At the moment, there’s not much known about the plot and character details, but rest assured that Lady Gaga can bring all Harley’s madness to the surface.
Harley – originally known as Dr. Harleen Quinzel – is villain “Joker’s” love interest/sidekick in different versions of their appearances in the Batman movies. Psychiatrist Harley met the evil prankster and mastermind Joker while he was a patient at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum.
All We Know About the Upcoming Joker Sequel
Fun fact: “Joker” is the first R-rated movie to gross in a billion dollars in worldwide box office in 2019. It also earned 12 Oscar nominations, including Best Actor win for Phoenix.
In June, Philips revealed on Instagram that a sequel to “Joker” is already underway.
The sequel’s name, “Folie à Deux”, which means a delusion or mental illness shared by two people, makes one wonder whether Joker will be working alone.
