Lily-Rose Depp Said The Weeknd Was Often ‘In His Zone’ While Filming

He was just trying to get in the zone, whatever zone that happened to be. Lily-Rose Depp says that her co-star, The Weeknd, was often in “his zone” while they were filming Max’s The Idol.

As many fans probably know by now, the show is about an aspiring pop star who begins a complicated relationship with a self-help guru and the head of a contemporary cult after she herself had a nervous breakdown. Here’s what you need to know.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, Lily-Rose says that while working on the set of The Idol, she knew when was a good time to talk to The Weeknd, and when was a good time to completely steer away from him.

She told the publication, “I don’t think anybody went full method — nobody lost their minds. Well, sometimes when Abel would get — I don’t want to reveal too much about where Abel’s character goes, but when he would be in full Tedros mode sometimes, I would steer clear of him. I’d be like, ‘He’s in his zone right now.’”

She also praised The Weeknd by saying, “he was able to melt into this role in a way that is really difficult for anybody to do.”

Unfortunately, the critics have not been very kind to The Idol, as some of the reviews say that this is the worst drama series to ever hit the small screen.

One critic even said, “The Idol is simultaneously awful self-parody, a pretentious art project, and grotesquely exploitative of its subject matter. Sam Levinson’s dialogue is about as natural as a chicken nugget. The Weeknd’s performance is awful. It feels like a show made by CIS men cause it is.”

Another critic also said, “I watched about half of the first episode, then couldn’t take any more excuses to be flashed. The pacing on this show was non-existent. Characters were cliche nonsense.

Sex and nudity was pointless and somehow very unsexual. LRD has no talent whatsoever and she’s not even pretty to look at, which is a shame because both of her parents were definitely pretty when they were her age.”
