According to the latest issue of the National Enquirer, one of the reasons why Lisa Marie left the church is because she felt incredibly tormented by their ways and felt like it just didn’t align with her personal beliefs anymore.

Both Lisa Marie and her mother Priscilla Presley joined the church when she was just 9 years old and shortly after the death of Elvis Presley. They remained faithful members until one particular meltdown back in 2014.

Tony Ortega, who happens to be one of the harshest critics of the church, says that it was Priscilla who got sucked into Scientology by Hollywood actor John Travolta, who still happens to be a very dedicated member.

He says that while Priscilla was treated like a huge celebrity by the church, it was Lisa Marie who always felt like a “shabby afterthought.” That all changed, of course, the moment Lisa Marie inherited her father’s $100 million estate as the church only then began to pay more attention to her.

Ortega recalls Lisa Marie as once saying, “After I got the inheritance, they started grooming me to be this person who would go out and get everyone else in.”

6855 claimed that the church really wanted her to bring Michael Jackson in back in 1994. She supposedly told him, “I was in love with Michael. I wanted to help him.”

Yet, the moment that Michael Jackson was accused of child sex abuse, the Church of Scientology wanted Lisa Marie to distance herself from him, even though she was totally in love with the King of Pop. It was one of the big reasons why she left the church, as she hated how much control they had over her. Ortega said, “I know how in love they were. But they were driven apart.”
