Lucy Liu Says Hearing Other Stars Sharing Their Negative Experiences with Bill Murray Did Not Make Her “Feel Validated”

When Lucy Liu heard that other stars opened up about their own bad experiences working with Bill Murray, she didn’t jump with joy that she has received validation for her story about how Murray disrespected her. Instead, she was saddened by it.

In a recent interview, Lucy Liu reflected on her previous claims that Murray, now 72, told her things that were “inexcusable and unacceptable,” on the set of 2000’s “Charlie’s Angels”.

“I was not going to just sit there and take it. So, yes, I stood up for myself, and I don’t regret it,” she told Los Angeles Times’ Asian Enough podcast in 2021.

Since then, other stars have publicly supported her story and called out Bill Murray for his pompous treatment of upcoming stars.

I think it’s safe to say that it’s human behavior to have some glory when you have other people back up your story, but Lucy Liu didn’t feel that way.

“I felt sad that it happened to other people. It doesn’t make me feel validated to hear other people having bad experiences,” the “Shazam, Fury of the Gods” actress told PEOPLE in this week’s issue of the magazine.

“I don’t think it’s a great feeling to have to live with that and to feel that you’re punishing yourself for something that you had no control over. I feel very grateful that people are able to speak their minds and release that because I don’t think it’s a positive energy to hold within yourself,” Liu added. “It’s valuable to be able to connect to other people and feel like you’re not the only one.”

Murray is yet to respond to this latest news.
