Mariah Carey might not be the crown “Queen of Christmas” but Ho! Ho! Ho! she is the Queen of Christmas to Dolly Parton. If Dolly says Maria is Queen of Christmas then Mariah is Queen of Christmas. No arguments.
Mariah Carey has been spreading Christmas joy to millions of people since the release of her Christmas hit song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” in 1994.
Last year, in March 2021, Mariah filed a petition to be officially known as “Queen of Christmas” but last month, November 15, Mariah’s petition to be the one and only “Queen of Christmas” was denied by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Recently, iconic country singer Dolly Parton who is a great lover of Christmas said that crown or no crown—title or no title, Mariah is her Queen of Christmas.
Mariah Carey — Dolly Parton Doesn’t Mind Coming Second To Mariah
Every Christmas lover knows that Dolly loves the Christmas season very dearly. The country singer has also partaken in adding lots of joy to Christmas through her Christmas songs and films.
Dolly also earned the title “Queen of Christmas” but after Mariah Carey declared interest in being Queen of Christmas, and after her petition was denied, Dolly openly admitted that she has no problem being second to Mariah for the title.
In a conversation with Better Homes and Gardens, Dolly said, “I’m not going to compete with Mariah. I love her. You think of Christmas, you think of Mariah. I’m happy to be second in line to her.”
Now, words like that don’t come out very often. When you hear that you’re loved by Dolly Parton not to talk of being given the honor of being first in line before dolly, you will keep gushing and swooning for the rest of your life.
When Mariah heard the nice words Dolly said about her she quickly tweeted her excitement while saying that Dolly is the “Queen of Everything! The Queen of the World, The Queen of Christmas, The Queen of Mine!!” Oh, and she didn’t fail to profess her love to Dolly.
Mariah Carey — Celebrities Against Mariah Trademarking “Queen Of Christmas”
When the news that Mariah Carey wants to trademark the “Queen of Christmas” title for herself came out, lots of celebrities frowned at it.
Elizabeth Chan, and Darlene Love we’re among those vocal about their disapproval of Mariah using the title for herself alone. Elizabeth is of the opinion that Christmas is for everyone and not for just one person.
In an interview with Variety, Elizabeth said, “Christmas has come way before any of us on Earth, and hopefully will be around way after any of us on Earth.”
“And I feel very strongly that no one person should hold onto anything around Christmas or monopolize it in the way that Mariah seeks to in perpetuity. That’s just not the right thing to do. Christmas is for everyone. It’s meant to be shared; it’s not meant to be owned.”
Darlene Love on the other hand made her disapproval known to Mariah through her Facebook post. Her post reads: “Is it true that Mariah Carey trademarked ‘Queen of Christmas’?
“What does that mean, that I can’t use that title? David Letterman officially declared me the Queen of Christmas 29 years ago, a year before she released ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You,’ and at 81 years of age I’m NOT changing anything.”
